Ecologies, Environments, and Energy Systems in Art of the 1960s and 1970s
A talk by James Nisbet

Saturday, July 19th
2pm
Mark Taper Auditorium

Drawing upon research in his recently published book, James Nisbet will address the previously overlooked connections between the emerging environmental movement in the United States and the art of the late 1950s through 1970s. Focusing on the movements of Conceptual Art and Land Art, he will discuss the profound impact that ecological thinking and politics had upon the visual arts during this decisive period for environmentalism.
